Who are we...

Formed in 1911, Maltby Miners Welfare Band has been active for almost a century.  We are based in Maltby, a town close to Rotherham, in South Yorkshire.

We have a busy entertainment programme, providing music for a variety of events in the local community and beyond.  We have represented the Yorkshire Coalfield at the Durham Miners' Gala for several years, and more recently, the NUM Memorial Services across Yorkshire.

Maltby Band are a competing band at local, regional and national level, and have represented Yorkshire twice in recent years at the Naional Brass Band Championships. In 2009 we were 4th section Regional Champions, and currently play in the 4th Section.

Our long serving Musical Director, Terry Clifford, is a skilled and experienced conductor.  His patience and good humour ensure enjoyable rehersals, whilst his encyclopaedic musical knowledge and skills as a compere mean audiences can always expect a well presented and pleasurable concert.
